Shifter is a game project made for the Microsoft XNA. It's a 2D puzzle platformer in which players must jump between dimensions to complete each level. As the project's only artist I'm tasked with creating both concept art and sprites for the final product.

The star of Shifter is Senka, about all I can say is that he's a member of a secret order that is supposed to keep the balance between dimensions and he's got some powers that allow him to do that. Oh and he looks like this:

Of course, no one knew that when I started designing him. Actually the design brief for Senka was fairly vague, as it only entailed a high contrast outfit, and generally sci fi stylings.

Here and here, you can see the some of the concepts I went through while working out the final version.

Shifter is going to be a 2D platformer, so after designing Senka I began making sprites, these aren't necessarily the final versions of that, I have to wait until the programmer can get them in the game so I can see how they look.

Until that happens though I'm working on creating the game's environment. These thumbnails are some ideas I've had for the game's first set of dimensons which just so happen to be fire and ice themed.
